Nintendo announced their online service for the Switch will launch sometime in 2018.
Online play for the Switch will remain free until the service launches. The pricing has been revealed to be $3.99 for one month, $7.99 for three months, and $19.99 for one year. Subscribers get multiplayer access and early eShop deals.
Members can also access to classic Nintendo games for free. Nintendo previously stated access to these games will only be available for one month, however, the company has changed their stance. Speaking to Kotaku, Nintendo stated, “Users can play as many of the games as they want, as often as they like, as long as they have an active subscription.”
Nintendo referenced “Super Mario Bros. 3,” “Balloon Fight,” and “Dr. Mario” as some of the games available for free when the service launches.
A smartphone app will release alongside the service letting players invite friends, set up gaming sessions, and voice chat. A free, limited version of the app will release this summer.
